The appeal of Ball Chain is its down-to-earth, relaxed, a bit industrial look; as well as the ease of adjusting the length by simply snipping off some chain.  Link Chain is a bit dressier, polished, and is a fixed length.  The 18" Stainless Steel chain is a nice weight and feels very expensive.
